What happens next
The downloaded file is named Cortexremote.exe.
If your browser shows a warning (Chrome says
"may be dangerous", Edge says "unverified
publisher"): click the three-dot menu on the download
notification → Keep (Chrome) or
Keep anyway (Edge). This is normal for new
apps and the file is safe.
Right-click the file → "Run as administrator". Windows may show a SmartScreen warning — choose "More info" → "Run anyway".
You'll see "You are connected." and your technician can join within a few seconds.
You are granting remote access. While Cortex Connect is
installed, the technician you contacted can see your screen and
control your mouse + keyboard. Removal: run
Cortexremote.exe --uninstall from an Administrator
command prompt any time.
